Cake Bake Off Rules

  • THE BAKE OFF COMPETITION WILL BE HELD ON OCTOBER 26 STARTING AT 10 AM.

  • SET UP WILL BE AT THE HALL - DOWNTOWN SALTILLO.

  • ENTRIES SHOULD BE DELIVERED NO LATER THAN 10 AM AND NO EARLIER THAN 8 AM.

  • WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT 1 PM.

  • WE HAVE 2 CATEGORIES THIS YEAR: AMATEUR AND YOUTH.

  • AMATEUR WINNER WILL RECEIVE A KITCHENAID MIXER AND YOUTH WINNER WILL WIN A HANDHELD MIXER.

  • Amateurs and youth contestants only in this category. No professional chefs or businesses may enter the competition. Contestants will compete in one of two categories: youth ages 10-18 and adults ages 19 and up.

  • Contestants may enter more than one cake for judging. Please bring two identical cakes for each entry. One cake for taste testing and one for appearance judging. The cakes will be silent auctioned off at the end of the competition. There is no entry fee. Your cakes are the entry fee. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Saltillo Main Street Community Project fund.

  • Submission must be home-cooked. Any store-bought or bakery-bought entry will be disqualified. All containers used for submission are the responsibility of the contestant.

  • Each entry must include the recipe with a complete list of ingredients. Recipes will only be shared with judges.

  • Entries must be at least two layers. Entries will be judged on taste, texture, creativity, and originality based on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest.

  • Do not submit anything that needs refrigeration.

  • Contestants must be present during the judging time for their category. The winners will be announced at 1 pm.
